Is Your Set Ready to Send? — The Stamp-Job Readiness Check
A stamp job runs at the speed of its package. Find your row: what your set's state means, what intake will say about it, and what to do before the clock starts.
| Your package | The verdict |
|---|---|
| "Complete drawings at the current revision, calculations included, deadline known." | Ready. Send it whole. Intake confirms and the review starts — this is the package the six stages were built for, and it prices at the clean review rate. |
| "Complete drawings, but the calculations were never done — or never sent." | Sendable, priced honestly. The job still runs, but the review now includes creating the calcs it must verify. Say so up front; a job quoted as verification and billed as creation is how fees double. |
| "The drawings exist, but the design is still moving — revisions coming." | Freeze first. A review reads the revision you send; every later revision restarts its stage. Freeze the set, note the revision on the package, and let changes queue for the correction cycle. |
| "Several disciplines on one set — structural, MEP, civil." | Ready, as one job with several seals. Each discipline is reviewed and sealed under its own license, coordinated inside the job. One all-purpose stamp across the bundle is not a thing that exists. |
| "A component package — trusses, PEMB, curtain wall, solar racking." | Ready when the criteria exist. The delegated job runs on the engineer of record's published design criteria. If nobody has published them, writing them is the job's first stage — ask for it by name. |
| "The permit office already rejected the set; we hold the comment letter." | Ready — and the letter is the scope. Send the notice, the submitted set it cites, and every prior response round. This job starts at the correction cycle; see the correction-cycle walkthrough. |
| "An AHJ, lender, or insurer letter requires a sealed engineering letter." | Ready. Send the requirement itself, the drawings or structure details behind it, and its deadline. The job is a check and a sealed answer to the requirement as written. |
| "We have a program and a site, no drawings yet — or drawings review cannot fix." | Not a stamp job yet. There is nothing to review. A design firm originates the work and seals its own — design-and-seal — and the stamp job begins when a set exists. Anyone offering to 'stamp it later' at this stage is selling you a problem; see how the job works. |
| "A seller offered to seal our set sight-unseen, today, cheap." | Walk away. That is plan stamping — illegal in every state, and the liability lands on your project. A real job asks for the drawings first, because the review is the product. Verify any sealer on the board lookup before money moves. |
Then, the Package
Whichever row you landed on, the job starts with the same delivery: the stamp-request checklist — the eight items, sent once, whole.
Who Publishes This Directory
Published by Apex Grid Engineering PLLC. The firms evaluated and listed on this site today are the publisher's own family of brands — this is an affiliated directory, not a neutral referee. The methodology below is the standard any engineering firm can be measured against, and it is the standard we hold our own firms to in public. Presentation order on this site is the publisher's choice and an experiment in what helps buyers decide — it is not an objective quality verdict, and no firm pays for placement. Coverage claims are limited to licensure the operator's bench actually holds, stated per state. No reviews, ratings, or project claims are published for any firm unless they can be documented — this site follows one stamp job end to end and publishes the publisher's methodology assessments; it does not publish customer reviews, and you will find none invented here.
